Supercross History

Australia has produced some amazing Supercross riders in the last 20 years such as; Michael Byrne, Chad Reed, Brett Metcalf, Dan Reardon and the latest being Jett and Hunter Lawrence but the depth has been shallow in the field as of late. The Supercross Futures program that the AMA supercross uses isn’t perfect however, it does allow the younger riders to gain experience and get comfortable in small spaces with the high-intensity racing platform. Supercross takes a special skill set like no other, however, the closest to this is Arenacross.

Why Arenacross?

The original days of Supercross with legends like Lee Hogan, Jono Porter, Danny Ham, and Craig Anderson found themselves racing in tight arenas with extremely big jumps. This showcased who had the best skill set onboard their machine because if the riders weren’t ready and precise they would most likely get injured. Since those days we have struggled to allow juniors, seniors and even pros to race an arena style race unless it was the Supercross and that is only for the elite 40 that make it. Having the Australian Arenacross series will concentrate on building safe but challenging tracks for the next generation of riders, as they will now start on 50's and be able to race all the way through to hopefully one-day, race in the Australian Supercross series.

Our Part

Our team at MXstore believe having a gateway program like the Australian Arenacross will allow riders of all ages to gain experience on a track and racing format that has the same obstacles and race feel as a Supercross style event. Therefore, allowing riders to gain experience, knowledge and ultimately getting riders more confident to add more depth in the AX/SX style of racing. The Australian Arenacross series is going to not only breed young riders for the future but will allow vets and other amateurs to race at an event and locations that the public might not normally get to see. We are beyond excited to be working with the Australian AX series and Motorcycling Australia in 2022 and beyond.
