A dirt bike that launches off the line must also be able to stop on a dime. Braking is one of the most important aspects of riding any off-road, enduro, motocross, scooter or ATV bike. So if your brake pedal or brake lever is not working properly you should be concerned. Luckily all major brake components are exposed and you can find the faulty part in minutes.

Start by checking the brake pads to ensure that they are still in good condition and make sure that the brake fluid is topped up. Next, inspect the front and rear brake caliper, front master cylinder and rear brake master cylinder, the front and back brake lines, also check that the brake lines are tied. The final step is to check for any leaking brake fluid.

If the evidence is pointing towards a leaky rear master cylinder then you will have to repair it using a brake master cylinder rebuild kit. These kits are easy to install and include everything you need to repair a leaky OEM, Nissin or Brembo master cylinders like cup seals, copper washers, o-rings and replacement screws where applicable. You can follow the above process for your clutch system to help identify if a leaky clutch master cylinder is to blame for the horrible clutch lever feedback.

At MXstore we stock brake master cylinder rebuild kits to suit all of the major manufactures including Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, KTM, Husqvarna and Husaberg.  If you are unable to find a master cylinder repair kit that fits your bike, give one of our parts specialists a call or drop us an email and we will track it down.
