Bell 2018 MX Helmet Range
The 2018 Bell Helmet line has officially landed. As the premier brand in the offroad helmet market, many have been eagerly anticipating the release of the Bell 2018 range, and we are certainly no exception. Safety sits at the very forefront of our core values here at MXstore, and a brand like Bell is one of our partners who truly align with us on that vision. Countless hours have been poured into the design and development of all of Bell's helmets, and the end result has always been a thing of beauty; let us be the first to tell you, 2018 is no different.
Perhaps best known for their fresh designs and clean colourways, for 2018 we wanted to look deeper at what makes the Bell helmet line so damn good. Sure, they look stylish as hell, but riders like Eli Tomac and Austin Forkner don't choose helmets based solely on their looks, and neither should you. We were fortunate enough to sit down and spend some time with Bell's global business development manager Luke Brady, who talked us through the 2018 line and the technology it brings to the consumer. Check out the video below as Luke offers a unique insight into what makes Bell helmets the best dirt bike lids on the planet.
The Moto-9 Flex Helmet sets the benchmark for motocross helmets everywhere. The perfect blend of safety, performance, and style, the Moto-9 Flex is simply uncompromising when it comes to the protection of your most valuable asset. Made with a revolutionary progressive three layer impact liner, the Moto-9 Flex works across the board to handle low, mid, and high speed impacts. Unlike other traditional motocross helmets, the Flex is designed to handle both linear and angular impacts, by mimicking the body's natural defense mechanism. Like the MIPS system seen in the Moto-9 and MX-9 ranges, the Flex Liner system adds protection to the brain against rotational motion, the most common cause of head injuries in motocross crashes.
Other industry leading features on display in the 2018 Moto-9 Flex range include the Magnefusion Emergency Release System (MERS), Flying Bridge Visor™, Removable & Washable XT-2® Extended Wear Interior and Velocity Flow Ventilation™. Technical terms aside, the 2018 Moto-9 Flex is far and away the best offroad motocross helmet available on the market today, and if you're a rider who places the value of your head at the top end of your priority list like me, you'll invest in one today (mine is already safely stowed in my gear bag ready for this weekends ride!).
New for 2018, the Bell Moto-9 helmet now incorporates the world renowned MIPS system. Developed in Sweden, MIPS has been revolutionising the helmet industry since 1996. Scientifically proven to reduce rotational motion, the MIPS system works in a very similar fashion to the Flex Layering system in the Moto-9 Flex, by absorbing and redirecting rotational energies and forces transferred to the brain from angled impacts to the head. While Bell believes their Flex Layering System is the best protection money can buy, the company truly believes in the MIPS product, having invested heavily in the MIPS company financially, and now incorporating the MIPS system throughout the Moto-9, MX-9 and MX-9 Adventure ranges. If you can't afford the top level technology on offer in the Moto-9 Flex, the Moto-9 with MIPS is hands down the next best option available.
With some killer designs and colabs throughout the 2018 Moto-9 MIPS range, Bell is certainly onto a winner. Teaming up with their old pals at Fasthouse, Monster Energy, and Tagger Designs once again, this is one of the freshest ranges of helmets we have ever laid eyes on. Add onto that that the Moto-9 MIPS is an exact mirror image of the Moto-Flex design (minus the Flex Layering System), you know you're getting a feature packed helmet that offers some serious protection at an affordable price. What more could you want?
A design inspired by the Moto-9, the Bell MX-9 Helmet is the best value for money motocross helmet available on the market today. The cheapest helmet to incorporate the MIPS system, the MX-9 is an affordable option that doesn't cut any corners when it comes to safety. Trading the composite materials of the Moto-9 for a tried and proven polycarbonate construction, the MX-9 may be slightly heavier than its more expensive counterparts, but it more than makes up for it with its aggressive looking shell and overall aesthetic design. An attractive price point is the main drawcard of the MX-9, but if you're trying to balance safety and budget then the MX-9 is the helmet for you.
Safety certainly isn't limited to offroad adventures, and the 2018 Bell MX-9 Adventure Helmet has got you covered no matter what kind of terrain you're tackling. Featuring the MIPS system as seen in the Moto-9 and MX-9 offroad helmets, the MX-9 Adventure takes rotational motion injuries front on, offering some of the best head protection that money can buy. Whether you're adventuring offroad or cruising the highway, the MX-9 Adventure is easily one of the best two-in-one dual sport helmets you can get your hands on.
