Battle In The Bush V - Appin 2025
Battle In The Bush Goes Interstate
New South Wales riders know how to have a good time! The first-ever interstate Motorex Battle in the Bush presented by Fasthouse in Appin and hosted by the legendary Macarthur MCC was a huge hit. Although entries were down, apparently, everyone thought it was an enduro race? Racers soon realised MDMC combined two of their legendary MX tracks and made one of the most memorable 2.6km MX loops ever made in the long 100-year history of the venue. On Saturday, riders were punctual, signed in, and ready to ride by 12 pm, wasting no time for the Fasthouse Shakedown on the MX track. Everyone sessioned hard getting tons of laps in over the one-hour period.
The Pirelli Slow Race featured talented riders going their slowest to win the $250 voucher from Pirelli. Sam Rummery took home the voucher, a skilled trials bike rider who smoked his clutch but kept riding for the win! Pod Rut Limbo is always special, but this time was something else. The best rut found a little further away than normal made it even cooler. As many of the attendees mentioned, there were multigenerations of riders all cheering each other on and competing side by side, we had coaches up against their past students, fathers vs. sons, and fast-charging girls showing how it’s done! In the end, it came down to Brock Ninness and Cooper Holroyd riding under the 80cm bar, but Cooper took victory in a very impressive way, and won himself a fresh set of K4 Kneebraces from POD!
The Riding group stayed in a pack as we moved over to the SBS brake test, everyone lined up and gave it their best crack. Rayne Alefosio won the ladies award at 3.20 seconds, Cameron Eastaway 2.75sec close behind the winner Cooper Holroyd 2.70sec, but all walked away with new sets of SBS Brakes. The Motorex Barrel Race was a spectacular novelty ho-down with plenty of friendly rivalry being shared on the start straight. From fathers and daughters to internet sensations Prutti and Trent Morgs going toe to toe in the name of fun. We got to witness the first-ever Stark Reverse Challenge run in Australia, which proved to be tough! A knock-out round system where riders rode head to head, in reverse with the winner being the one who rode with the least number of stops (foot down) to the finish line, proceeding to the final was Prutti and Sam Rummery, though Sam took a narrow victory by less than a meter! The 100% Goggles Tug of War was a crowd favourite, with a bunch of kids landing themselves on top (with the help of mum and dad), Charlie Wood won the Bell Moto-10 Spherical Slayco Helmet and proceeded to ride in it the next day! The MXON style Bingo Gate Draw finished off the day, and again, we had plenty of kids getting involved.

4 Hour Relay
Race day saw Cooper Holroyd take the Pirelli Holeshot ($500 Voucher) Award, carrying the lead from the start until the very end with his teammates Rory Fairbrother and Colby Cambell bringing the win home for their team “Daddy’s Home”. It was the perfect training ground for Cooper and Cody O'Loan, who are both competing at MXGP in Darwin in the coming weeks. Cooper clocked up 3 motos (35, 38 and 33min) in the 4-hour window... Best of luck at MXGP guys! Tate Lawrence brothers followed in second and SFC Racing featuring Daniel McCoy rounded out the podium, this marks Dans 5th Battle In The Bush out of 5 events run! It was a tight battle in the mixed class with Team Nami going head-to-head with Dads Money, the bout ended with a narrow victory going to Team Nami after Dad’s Money misplaced their transponder in the final minutes. The Vets class was battled out by Queenslanders who made the journey down, Serco taking top honours, followed by Motorex Aus. See the standings as the checkered flag came out:
