Ride safely to ride more!

We all know dirt bikes are dangerous, but there are things we can all do as riders to make it that much safer.

In this article, we highlight four off-road safety tips to practice the next time you go dirt bike riding while training at the track or trail.

1. Pre-ride bike check:

Before you even think about heading out for a ride, it's important to give your bike a once-over and ensure it's completely ready to go. This includes ensuring the chain is correctly tensioned, have the correct pressure in your tyres, brakes are working and making sure the main bolts are nipped up on your dirt bike.

2. Fuel check:

This comes under the pre-ride check, but it deserves its own place in this article. Remember to fill up your bike before you head out for a ride and in between rides! Using a quick fill fuel can makes light work of this process. We've seen this happen time and time again, even by the most experienced riders, where they haven't checked their fuel before going out, only for it to cut out on a jump and suffer a nasty crash and subsequent injuries. Take 30 seconds to check your fuel and prevent an unneeded accident.

3. Inspect the track or trail:

Just because you've ridden at a certain place hundreds of times before, doesn't mean you can go all out on your first ride. Inspect the track or trail, take note of any dangers or anything that's looking pretty rough. It's also a good chance to warm up before getting into it.

4. Don't do 'just one more', listen to your body:

If there's one thing we've learned over the years, never do 'just one more' after you've told yourself you're already done - whether it be one more lap or one more ride. This is a little superstitious, but it always seems to be that a mechanical or crash happens when you go out for that 'just one more'. Listen to your body, if you are feeling tired towards the end of a ride be sure to take it easy as this is when things can quickly get out of control.
