Compression garments have soared in popularity between motocross and off-road riders, and they’re worn by almost every racer in any discipline of dirt bike riding.

We cover the key reasons why you should consider compression garments as a dirt bike rider in this article.

Maintain body temperature: One of the key reasons for wearing compression garments while riding is to maintain your body temperature. Whether you’re racing motocross or riding enduro, you’re bound to ride in extreme heat all the way through to freezing cold temperatures. A compression garment helps in both situations, and there are garments available specifically for summer or winter. They’re particularly handy for those cold winter motos, as they act as another warmer layer, yet they don’t restrict your body movement in the slightest.

Prevent skin irritation: Dirt bike riding requires us to wear protective equipment beneath our riding apparel, such as knee braces and chest protectors. These items generally have and even velcro which becomes highly irritable to our skin, especially when we’re moving around so much and working up a sweat. Compression garments prevent almost all irritation (especially when wearing knee braces!) and just really enhance the comfort of wearing protective gear while riding.
