HOW TO: PREVENTING FLATS main image

Nothing worse than a flat tyre ruining your ride. Geoff Ballard runs us through the top 6 products you need to help prevent flats.

THE TOP 6 PARTS & ACCESSORIES YOU NEED TO PREVENT FLATS

(1) & (2) Ballard's Heavy duty tubes - These are available in 2mm & 4mm thicknesses so they're much thicker than a standard tube (usually 1.3mm).

(3) Tube saddle - The tube saddle is a sheath that sits around the tube between the rim and the tube. It's super light, and adds an extra layer to help reduce pinch flats.

(4) Run tubeless - These weigh in at just under a kilogram and are very hard to get pinch flats with. You just have to keep an eye on pressure.

(5) Run Mousse tyres - Lightweight and impossible to get a flat with. However can be hard to get the right sizing and can be harder to manipulate into the tyre. Which leads us to the next tool to help....

(6) Ballard's tyre changing tool - To assist in making mousse tyre changes a piece of cake. These tools get alot of feedback for their ease of use, and can turn an unenjoyable job into an easy one.

Extra Tools for your Tyres:

Ballard's tyre gauges  - Perfect coupled with a tubeless setup, but really an essential tool for your workshop. These are available in manual or digital options.

Ballard's tyre levers  - An essential tool for every workshop and for your travel tool bag.
