Jemma Wilson Fox Ride Day QMP November 2018

 

17th - 18th November

Jemma Wilson's first ever Fox Womens Ride Day presented by MXstore was AMAZING! We had nice temperatures, a great track and the coolest 'girls helping girls' vibe. 

Fifty-eight girls and ladies headed out to Qld Moto Park to hang out and camp out, meet one another over a Young Henrys and have a rad time riding together all day Sunday! Our youngest participants were Olivia and Addie at 8 years old (Yeah the Girl Groms!) and every age in between, up to 57! There were ladies who were super beginners, some coming across to dirt from road, and other girls who were fast as and battling it out with their galpals all day.

The day was not a coaching event, like the Fox Womens Offroad Camp Outs, and ran really casually, with the group broken into three. The girls cycled through 15 minutes of awesomeness, and then had a half hour opportunity to get to know one another. Having the track to ourselves meant that there was no need to worry about other riders blasting past, or intimidating the not-as-confident riders. 

Jemma had her fleet of Yamaha's (YZ250FX, TTR125 and YZ65) available for the girls to try out and, that they did. The YZ65 was a hit with the juniors and seniors alike. 

This was a test event for future Fox Womens Ride Days and also Jemma's first ever Fox Womens Trailride presented by MXstore coming up in March 2019. 

"There is so much happening in the world of women at the moment. We are pushing for equality and recognition in all sorts of sports. I've been in the motorcycle industry for 15 years, and the growth I am seeing and have seen the past couple of years is truly astounding. I am honoured to be able to work with amazing companies and put on these events and help counteract the sometimes daunting nature of motorcycling so that it can be enjoyed by more ladies," says Jemma.

"The eve and day was so much fun. I was worried that I wasn't gonna be good enough and that I would find it intimidating, but the day was great for all levels and I felt really welcome by all the girls. Gemma was a total legend and got everyone motivated which was so rad (I'm so so great full as she lent me her bike.. it was epic fun, so sorry I crashed it oops!!) The only problem with the girls day is that they need to happen every weekend :)"
