Team Australia MXON 2025 - Ironman Raceway

Defending Champions Are Back for More.
History was made in 2024 when Team Australia took out the Motocross of Nations for the very first time. Jett Lawrence, Hunter Lawrence, and Kyle Webster asserted their names into the history books and brought the Chamberlain Trophy down under. It was a moment that riders, fans, and the entire Australian motocross community had been waiting on for decades.
The truth is, the momentum had been building. The second the Lawrence brothers hit the scene, the whole country knew Team Australia was in a good spot for the future. Their rise on the world stage brought a new level of belief that it was only a matter of time before the Trophy came home. Two years ago, we got a taste with a podium finish that proved Australia was right there in the mix with the heavyweights. Then in 2024, it all came together with a dominant weekend that delivered history.
For 2025, nothing changes. The same legendary lineup is back, hungry to defend the title and show the world that last year wasn’t a one-off. Jett, Hunter, and Kyle have already proven they have what it takes, and now it’s about going back-to-back and keeping Australia on top of the motocross world.

FRIDAY!
Team Australia were straight into it as soon as they arrived in Crawfordsville. The team had media obligations and the press conference whilst their mechanics were taking their bikes through the sound check. Then they got geared up and got to do some practice starts, then the most exciting part of the Friday, the parade. Jett, Hunter and Kyle & team manager Michael Byrne got in the ute and rolled through a fan-packed Crawfordsville, soaking up the cheers and flying the Aussie flag. Earlier in the day the team also took part in the ballot gate draw and came away with gate pick number 7, which is actually not a bad spot to start from for Saturday’s qualifying.
SATURDAY QUALIFYING DAY
The qualifying races kicked off under perfect conditions and Team Australia came out swinging. In the MXGP qualifying race it was no surprise to see Jett Lawrence with the holeshot and leading the pack early. Germany’s Ken Roczen slotted in behind and kept the pressure on through the first half of the moto, while it was bad luck for USA’s Eli Tomac who was buried outside the top 20 off the start, and Belgium’s Lucas Coenen who went down in the first turn, both considered the big hitters to challenge Jett. Kyle Webster put in an extremely solid ride in the MX2, bringing home 5th in a stacked field, exactly what the team needed heading into Sunday. It felt like deja vu off the start of the Opening moto with another Lawrence out front. This time Hunter Lawrence ripped the holeshot and checked out early, stretching his lead and bringing home the win in the Open class to wrap up a strong day for Team Australia. Giving Team Australia gate pick #1 into tomorrow’s racing!
SUNDAY RACE DAY
Well the boys did it again! There’s not much else to say outside of congrats to the team. Each rider had their own challenges to overcome but they delivered when it counted
Moto 1 – MXGP & MX2 The day started with Jett pulling a near-perfect start up front while Kyle Webster went down in turn one and had to charge his way through the pack. He fought hard to an impressive 15th place finish against a stacked MXGP and MX2 field. Jett did Jett things, made his way past Lucas Coenen for the lead and never let it go.
Moto 2 – Open & MX2 Hunter Lawrence ripped the holeshot and led the way to a first-place finish, even after tipping it over twice during the race. He was still the class of the field, finishing ahead of his teammate and Japanese Jo Shimoda. Kyle again had the tough job of the start on the 250 against the 450s, got buried and went down in the first corner again, but the Aussie champ showed us why he is the back to back champ and charged all the way back to a solid 13th.
Moto 3 – MXGP & Open This time it was Jett who had to fight back after coming together with another rider on lap one and going down, ending the first lap well outside the top ten while Hunter was out front. Hunter kept it picture perfect to take the win ahead of American Eli Tomac while Jett put in a huge charge through the pack to finish 3rd.
All that to say Team Australia are champions again. Back-to-back MXoN titles for TEAM AUSTRALIA
