FIM World Motocross Championship Round 17 - Leon, Mexico

MXGP:

Gautier Paulin continues his late hard charge with another round win in Mexico. Although the 2014 champion Cairoli rode consistent with a 3rd and a 2nd the overall points earned for the day was just short of Max Nagl and Gautier who won a moto a piece. The Frenchman Gautier, who likes to overtake people by jumping his Monster Energy Thor Kawasaki past them on obstacles which nobody else will jump. Is looking good for a solid finish at the MXON which is less than 2 months away!

Can Gautier bring home the bacon for France at the MXON?

MX2:

After a recent broken femur from a charity race Jeffrey Herlings went from over a 100 point lead to be within striking distance from his Red Bull KTM Alpinestars team mate Jordi Tixier.

If Tixier won the day Herlings needed to be within the top 8 in order to collect enough points to keep him in the championship which was well earned considering the Belgians form all year.

Although a gritty effort was shown by Herlings even to throw his leg over the bike and race so soon after having a rod inserted into his femur. An 11th overall would not be enough and Jordi Tixier has now clinched the championship with a 4 point advantage on Herlings.

Herlings leg is still far from being healed and would have been riding against doctors orders!

Barcia and Peick sign with JGR Yamaha for 2015:

Love him or hate him, Justin “Bam Bam” Barcia is entertaining to watch. The young hard charger has been known to pull a few dangerous moves in the heat of the moment on the race track. But nobody can deny his talent on a bike. If you haven’t already, check out some of his youtube edits the guy can throw a bike around with a lot of style!

Barcia who underwent ankle surgery recently is pumped to be on the blue bikes in 2015, saying “I already feel a part of the JGR family and I can’t wait to start riding and training for the 2015 season”.

Joining Barcia in the JGR camp in 2015 is underdog and fan favourite Weston Peick. Weston has been on Yamaha’s for years and after a breakthrough season in 2014 riding for RCH Suzuki there are big hopes for another solid year back on the blue bikes.

Upcoming event – FMX Championship Sao Paulo, Brazil:

One of the largest cities in the world Sao Paulo, Brazil will play host to the first Brazil FMX championship on the 22nd December 2014.

On top of an already saturated talent pool of Brazilian riders, some international contenders will be flown in to add some depth to the field. Although the favourite at this stage is local man Fred Kyrillos, the addition of USA ripper Wiley Fullmer and Canadian Mark Phillips will be sure to keep things interesting.

Another addition to the field is Aussie and MXstore’s own Pete Anderson. There is one more position open for a second Australian rider which we will keep you posted on, but to be the first person to represent his country at such a large event is an honour and Pete will no doubt be putting in the hours on the bike in preparation!
