The man who dominated the opening five motos of 2015 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross before crashing during the sixth moto at Thunder Valley National in Denver, Eli Tomac, is on the road to recovery.

Tomac was diagnosed with a torn left shoulder, and an injured right shoulder, following the Thunder Valley motocross crash before his home crowd on May 30. GEICO Honda reported Monday that Tomac underwent successful surgery last Thursday.

GEICO Honda reports that doctors at Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colo., successfully repaired damaged tendons in Tomac’s left shoulder. The surgery for Tomac’s right shoulder, which needs a less-complicated repair, has been scheduled to take place in two weeks.

Tomac already has begun physical therapy to aid in the immediate recovery of the injury. A complete recovery is expected for both shoulders later this fall, GEICO Honda reports.

The Honda CRF450R pilot will not return to the 2015 Motocross grid, but should be ready for 2016 Supercross.
