Finding where to ride a dirt bike can be challenging, especially if you're new to the sport, but thankfully there are a number of resources that will point you in the right direction for your next day ride.

In this guide, we share three tips to find places to ride your dirt bike.

Use online resources: One of the best and most practical things to do when looking for places to ride your dirt bike in Australia is to utilise online resources. This might seem like an obvious one, but it's exactly where you'll find public motocross tracks, off-road facilities and enduro/trail bike loops.

You can use websites such as TrackFinder.com.au, which lists MX tracks, raceways and ride parks around the country, while you can also use the website of your local Motorcycling Australia State Controlling Body, such as Motorcycling Queensland, Motorcycling Western Australia or Motorcycling NSW. These websites will also detail clubs and tracks that are approved and sanctioned by the governing body.

You can also visit your appropriate Government website for forests and bush that you're allowed to ride - they'll generally highlight what areas are national parks and state forests, and where off-road motorbikes are allowed to ride. Some local governments even have designated motorcycle parks set up in their region.

Seek recommendations from fellow riders: The next best solution to find places for dirt bike riding is by seeking recommendations from your friends or fellow riders. The knowledge of your peers will be able to point in the right direction of new places to ride, as well as providing information on the locations offer, such as camping facilities, a family-friendly environment and the types of tracks, like a pee-wee circuit, that they offer. They may also know of, or have access to, private property where they can grant you access to ride.

Ask local motorcycle services: If you're new to the sport, you probably don't know anyone who's riding and can point you in the right direction. This is where you should ask the question to your local mechanic or suspension specialist - they'll generally be a dirt bike rider themselves, and will likely be able to recommend moto parks and riding parks, as well as trail bike riding locations.
