Electric dirt bikes are becoming more and more popular amongst riders, and there are more manufacturers than ever making them.

Most off-road electric motorcycle brands are focusing on kids bikes, and now there's quite a selection of models to choose from for different ages and abilities.

In this guide, we look at the three reasons you should consider an electric motocross bike for your little grom.

Accessibility: One of the key perks of an electric dirt bike is the accessibility to ride them almost anywhere. Since they don't make any noise, you're not going to cop any complaints from neighbours or people nearby, so your kid can learn the basics to riding in your backyard (if you've got the space!) or at the park down the road. Noise is a big issue in the world of motorcycling, and it's actually something that prevents many parents from getting their kids involved in dirt bike riding.

Low maintenance: Traditional combustible dirt bikes come with a lot of maintenance - you have to change and oil the air filter every ride, replace the oil every few hours or so, and then carry out engine rebuilds at certain intervals. So there's a lot you either need knowledge on, or you'll need to spend money to see a technician. Electric dirt bikes don't have anywhere near the same amount of maintenance - in fact, they have very little maintenance aside from making sure the essentials are working properly and that the battery is charged, which can be very inviting to get your child on one.

Tuneable power: There are many different electric motorbikes available for kids, and the best electric dirt bikes include the KTM SX-E 5 and Husqvarna EE 5, as well as the Stacyc and Oset bikes. Majority of these bikes provide customisable power, meaning the bike can be detuned, or enhanced, depending on the rider's ability. This is great for new riders, as the power can be really mellow and friendly as they learn the basics to riding. And the best part? As they get more confident, you can simply 'up' the power.
