2016 KTM CONONDALE CUP

The 2016 edition of the KTM Conondale Cup took place at the iconic Green Park circuit in Queensland over the weekend of March 5-6. The prize pool of $10,000 lured in fast A-Graders and Pros who were willing to take on the 2015 MX Nationals MX1 champ and inaugural Conondale Cup winner, KTM’s Kirk Gibbs, returning Grand Prix star, Yamaha’s Dean Ferris, and rising prospect, KTM’s Caleb Ward.

As the first major Australian motocross outing on the 2016 calendar, the KTM Conondale Cup offered a fantastic opportunity for regular Aussie front-runners to gauge their speed against competitors and get a feel for the famous track which will host an MX Nationals round in 2016. The KTM Conondale Cup represents an awesome chance for weekend warriors to race against Australia’s finest, and the Sunshine Coast Motorcycle Club promised an open, flowing layout which will suit all skill levels.

This year, the KTM Conondale Cup had classes for everyone, from 85cc riders right up to Veterans, Clubman and Pros. There was even a 125cc class with $900 prize money on offer for those who like to keep it pinned and swing off the clutch. The event had great industry support with trophies and $3000 worth of prizes up for grabs for Amateurs and Juniors, thanks to Motorex, Pirelli, 100%, M2R, FLY, and LKI.
